Cloning My Voice? Here’s What AI Just Made Possible (And Why I’m Paying Attention)

May 20, 20254 min read

What's going on this week....

Well, what a week it's been, as I count down to my next birthday, my research and work behind the scenes has been a bit crazy. After swearing blind that I wasn't in the market for any more new products until I cancel a few subscriptions and actually use everything I already have access to, I couldn't resist this latest one.

I was watching a lovely friend of mine (who I met in a digital world) on her stories and reels and she was creating the most breath taking short reels. I knew I had to get in on it, a few questions translated to a real FOMO on my behalf and before I knew it, I was getting a "thank you" message from purchasing through her affiliate link.

So yes, now I have another new affiliate link for another wonderful community filled with support. So let's crack on with it and share a bit more about this new fun thing I'm into.

Cloning My Voice? Yep, That’s a Thing Now.

I used to joke that if I could just clone myself, I’d finally get everything done—school runs, client calls, content creation, replying to 42 unread WhatsApps… all sorted.

But now? I’ve literally cloned my voice using AI.
And it stopped me in my tracks.

Because as much as I’m all about digital tools and working smarter (not harder), there’s something deeply personal about hearing your own voice say things you never recorded. It’s clever. It’s creepy. It’s kind of magic.

And it got me thinking…

Why I Cloned My Voice in the First Place

Running a business around a busy life—health stuff, work, kids, getting kids to the under-9s cricket (yep, me!)—means I’m constantly stretched.
Voice cloning offered me a chance to explore how I could:

  • Create more content when I don’t have time to record

  • Turn my notes or blog drafts into voiceovers

  • Show up for my audience in a way that still sounds like me

And honestly? That’s what sold it.

Because as someone who’s built a brand around showing up real—trauma, wins, losses, go again vibes—I wanted tech that supports my voice, not replaces it.

Here’s How It Works (In Simple Terms)

AI voice cloning takes a sample of your voice—ideally 30 seconds to a few minutes of clear audio—and then trains a model to mimic it.
Not just the sound, but the rhythm, the pauses, the way you say "bloody hell" when your email crashes again.

It’s not perfect yet (and thank god for that), but it’s convincing. Especially in shorter bursts.
Some app's are really leading the way.

How I Could Use It (But Won’t Just Yet…)

Here’s where I see potential:

  • Recording audio content for courses or ebooks

  • Auto-narrating social captions or blog intros

  • Using my cloned voice for client walkthroughs or FAQs

  • Creating affirmations in my own tone for my Skool group

But here’s where I pause…

Because voice is intimate. And trust, especially online, is everything. I don’t want someone listening and wondering, “Is this even her?”
I’ve spent years rebuilding my voice—from trauma, from people-pleasing, from burnout—and I’m not handing it over lightly.

The Big Question: Is This Ethical?

Voice cloning opens a floodgate of issues:

  • Consent: Can someone clone your voice without permission?

  • Security: Could scammers use it to mimic your voice in phone calls?

  • Authenticity: What does “real” even mean anymore online?

As a mum, a leader, and a woman who took 27 years to speak her truth—I can’t not ask those questions.

Because voice is power.
And when we clone it, we’d better know why.

Final Thoughts from a Tech-Loving Gemini With a Big Mouth

AI is incredible.
It’s wild and exciting and terrifying all at once.
But it’s also just a tool. And like any tool, it reflects the intent behind it.

So, here’s where I land:
🟡 I’ll keep exploring this tech.
🟡 I’ll keep sharing what I learn.
🟡 I’ll only use my cloned voice when I’m 100% in control of the message.
🟡 And I’ll always prefer the messy, human, coffee-fueled version of me to any polished AI copy.

Because life’s already short.
I’d rather spend it actually speaking than letting a bot do it for me, although it really is rather exciting to think that I dont need to be "as present" online, when my trusty clone can do it for me.
